TEAM BIOGRAPHIES
JIN RONG (TONY) CAO

Tony or legally known as Jin Rong is a 3rd year software engineering co-op and mathematics student who is currently in month 5 of an 8 month work term at TELUS. His current position is a data scientist developer as part of a small, but powerful team of 9 that performs analytics and automation for the entire Procurement department at TELUS. As a result of team members being based in Ontario and British Columbia, Tony has perfected his skill of working in a fully digital agile team. Some work that Tony has done at TELUS include the re-development of the department webpage, creating Python script to automate financial reports and leading user experience test groups. In his free time, he enjoys reading, baking and watching Netflix.

CALVIN CHENG

Calvin is a 3rd year computer science co-op student who is currently looking for his second work term. He has 5 years of formal education and experience in computer science learning many programming languages and concepts. His first work term was a four month position at OMERS Capital Markets as an Application Support Analyst where he worked to develop applications of varying sizes to improve the quality of life of the other business teams at OMERS. Calvin has experience in both leadership and team member positions through his work as a hardware lead in his highschool Robotics team and his numerous opportunities working in scrum environments. Though Calvin is no stranger to working independently, efficiently, and effectively, demonstrated during his time at OMERS with his solo-development projects.

WINNIE LAM

Winnie is a 3rd year computer science student with 4 years of experience, currently a frontend developer for LIVE Competition. She finished a 4-month work term at RBC as a Developer, and is experienced in creating web applications in both frontend and backend situations with various languages and frameworks.
Being a self starter, she takes matters into her own hands, such as creating and re-creating her personal website when better frameworks can be used. She constantly tries to enhance her skills by seeking out new opportunities and resources.
Winnie excels in communication, demonstrated through being a teaching assistant, mentor, and student ambassador at school. She collaborates seamlessly, through being a scrum master and working in teams running in an agile fashion.

ROBERT NICHITA

Robert is a 3rd year software engineering co-op student who has completed a 4 month co-op at Altairix Inc. software consulting firm doing backend web-app work. He has experience with software team leadership from a robotics team in high school for 3 years, and thus also has embedded systems experience.
Robert has participated in several university-hosted coding contests and hackathons and this has improved his skills in some unfamiliar technologies in the last two years. He is quick to learn new skills and eager to try new things with a keen intuition for problem-solving.
He is currently trying to build his own website in order to become more familiar with front-end development standards, design standards, and to display his portfolio.

ALAC WONG

Alac is a 3rd year co-op computer science and statistics student who is a current intern at Royaltymine and is currently looking for a work-term for fall 2020. He is a programmer with 4 years of experience with various languages and APIs. He enjoys working on projects ranging from creating web applications to machine learning applications, using tools like scikit learn. Currently he is also working as an instructor at Mathnasium where he helps students in the elementary level all the way to the high school level succeed in mathematics. In his free time he likes swimming and playing basketball.
He is currently working on a project that converts handwritten documents to LaTex (mathematical markup language) documents and is building his own personal web page. He plans on working on more web applications in the future as he is enjoying web development a lot at the moment.
